Special Educators & Occupational Therapists

Oak City Soccer provides soccer instruction to children on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing differences. We typically need 4-8 volunteers per 1 hour class consisting of head coaches, assistant coaches, 1 on 1 buddies, and special educator/occupational therapist. Volunteers help our athletes stay on task, navigate drills, model basic skills, encourage sportsmanship, and facilitate social interactions.

The OCS Special Educator/OT is our resource in the room. They are responsible for helping overwhelmed players who may need special assistance to safely join a class. This position is also expected to collaborate with the coaches and volunteers on implementing any modifications to planned drills to facilitate player participation at all levels of play.

The Special Educator/OT is also responsible for:

·        Modifying activities/drills before and during classes based on players’ needs

·        Facilitating players engagement with as little disruption to peers as possible

·        Assess and advise on individual placement by level to provide best fit for player

·        Supporting OCS families with transitions in and out of facility

Special Educator/OT volunteers interested in committing 4 hours 1-3 Sundays per 6 week season can complete the interest form below for more information.

Are you able to volunteer from 12:00-4:00 pm on Sundays? *
The bulk of our classes occur on Sundays in Cary. Occassionally we offer mini camps on Saturdays. It is crucial to have a specialized resource at our events.
